It looked like the previous two missions also had ways to airlift engineers into some of the GDI bases? Especially the first one had a open side with no static defenses. The second mission had the lower entrance toward the river + the semi-open mini base that perhaps you could sneak an engineer into? This seems even more cheesy then trying to do something similar in those missions :D

As I delve more into the succession wars era its interesting to see the wars and how they shaped future conflicts and doctrines. The first was a no holds example of total war wrought to its full extent all sides continueing on the auspice that total victory was at hand over and over again to exhaustions. The second sees the technical supremacy of comstar and the seeding of the word of blakes future hold in FWL territory with the destruction of all but the very last vestiges of SLDF equipment in the house militaries including warships. The end result left all powers exhausted, bloodied, and at the start of a near 250 year technological backslide. I know the 3rd is the longest and is more of a cold war with flashpoint conflicts and i look forward to the coverage of it.

Sven recalls the tales of a fictional world with such a passion and understanding that I could believe the people and battles fought in this story were real, and not simply the beautiful imagination of countless authors and game developers. It’s a shame we don’t have more historians to recount true events to the degree Sven has narrated these fictional ones. I feel like I have been given a gift, with these videos! Loving this series, wish I had found it sooner! One correction about currency - the common currency from Star League was the SL$ (Star League Dollar). The C-Bill came later from ComStar (originated from early ComStar's Letter of Credit).

Even if someone had irrevocable proof of what was to come and delivered it to each House in turn, they would doubt that all of them could be swayed, and that doubt that even just ONE of them would take the chance to seize as much territory as they could would be enough to push them to war simply so that the rest would not be able to catch them unawares. Its what makes Battletech different - admitting that everyone is, at the end of the day, human, and fallible, and that that degree only increases with the amount of power one possesses. Amazing video! Extremely thorough yet describing more than just statistics, giving a scope of just how insane the First Succession War was. And don't think I missed that Sean Bean cameo :p

7:25 “Ulaanbaatar” is the Mongolian capital. I’m new to battletech and I’ve noticed it has some influence from Mongols. They call leaders “Khan”, which is just another word for king in mongolian.

There are heavy parallels between this fictional war and the American Civil war. Aside from one particular theme that is often discussed today about the Civil War, the similarities between it and the Reunification war go down to even the capabilities of the generals and their strategic prowess, or lack there of.

Love the video, question for you. @38:50 you have the SLDF Navy command emblem from the Liberation of Terra Vol 1. But where is the SLDF Army emblem from? I know the emblem is in the SLDF Field Manual, but it's a page break. Where did you find that that's the actual Army emblem? Thank you! Love your work!

It is very interesting watching these non-Battletech videos. They don't pale in quality at all compared to the incredible work you put out nowadays. I'll be binging these over the week whenever I jog.

I had the same idea. Damn, this is so underrated

The most wild bit to me, is that the only reason in my mind that the Coalition was never official recognized (besides only recently being created irl) was that despite holding 24 star systems to it's name (twice as large as Oberon that's recognized shockingly later on), a decently sized military. And actively expanding with seemingly the Jumpships and capital to do so. The Concordant would never accept the Coalition's existence and would consider it an existential threat to its very foundation. After all, at that time, only 33 could be said to be under their defacto control, were as both the Magistracy of Canopus and Outworlds Alliance had 3-4 more planets then they had. If the Aurgian Coalition kept up its momentum, if not snatching a world of greater importance and industrial compacity due to the Concordant inability to property address there concerns.... Well I'll just say it's mighty suspicious and fortuitous that the Concordant had a hostile takeover and later civil war with material backing from themselves that greatly weaken the Reach's ability to expand. Then there's an interesting detail of all the charger mechs in the game for both sides, while theirs a Draconis combine spy outpost in the reach, alongside the Merc liaison being the only one to be 'friendly' to the player merc company. Again, highly suspicious. In the end, the Concordant got what it wanted, a half to the Coalitions expansion and freedom to expand themselves later one without fear of their colonies being subverted from right under them.... Oh boy does history have quite the twists. I do hope you explore these facts when you finish playing the game and get around to recounting the events of the Civil war.

Does anyone know what happened on Taran's World and how the SLDF Royal HQ there was destroyed? I'm tracking down information about the black boxes found there and Reunification War is selling for over $1,000 USD now. So I'm having a real problem finding out.

One thing I dont get is basically several peace agreements had more or less disrupted everything. Davion and Steiner could both focus on the Draconis Combine and Free Worlds on the Capellans. At least in Steiner and Davions' case, there seems to be little benefit of letting the DC out of that without some concessions, but they apparently couldn't even get a peace agreement?

Why did you rewrite longstanding battletech lore? At no point ever does any literature say Kerensky pilot an Atlas II He piloted an Altlas D and an Orion He personally required the head of Atlas be horrible to it's enimies. Never ever was it an ATLAS II That is revisionism at it's worst
